01 What stays on your device

Everything you create in Promise is saved inside the app's own storage on your phone. It is never uploaded to a server we run, and never shared with anyone. That includes:

• Promises and check-ins: your daily promises, whether you kept them, your mood and difficulty ratings, notes, streaks, grace days, and your journal history.
• Gym: your weekly workout plan, exercises (including ones you add yourself), sets, reps, and completed workouts.
• Focus: your focus sessions and focus promise progress.
• Fresh start: the habit you're quitting, your reason for quitting, your days free, cravings you log, slips, and the money and time you've saved.
• Training tools: your speech training attempts and best times, and your memory game scores.
• Profile: the nickname you give the app, the age and gender you pick during setup, your letter to your future self, a profile picture if you choose to add one, and your settings, such as language, reminders and quiet hours.

• There is no sign-in, no account, and no password.
• We cannot see any of this data. It never leaves your device unless you choose to export or share it yourself.
• The home-screen widget reads your promise and check-in state from a storage area shared only between the Promise app and its widget, on your phone.
• "Delete my data" in settings erases all of it, including fresh start, speech history, game scores, your letter, and your profile picture. Deleting the app does the same. There is no cloud copy to recover it from.

02 Apple Health (optional)

If you choose a step promise, for example "walk 8,000 steps", Promise asks for your permission to read your step count from Apple Health. Step count is the only Health data new promises use. If you set up an older health promise in an earlier version of the app, Promise may keep reading the data that promise needs (flights climbed, workouts, walking minutes, active calories or stand hours) until that promise is finished, and only for that purpose. This is optional, and you can change or revoke access at any time in the Health app or in your iPhone's Settings.

• Promise only reads this data. It never writes anything to Apple Health.
• It is used only to show your progress and to mark your promise as kept, with a "you kept your promise" notification, when your goal is reached.
• Health data stays on your phone. It is not sent to us or to any other company, and it is never used for advertising, analytics, marketing, or data mining.
• Health data is never included in the anonymous analytics described below.
• Promise, including the gym tab, works fully without Apple Health.

03 Photos, sharing and export

Profile picture. You can add your own profile picture from your photo library. Promise uses Apple's photo picker, so it only receives the one photo you pick, not the rest of your library. The picture is stored on your phone only, and you can remove it at any time from your profile. "Delete my data" removes it too.

Share card. After a kept promise you can share an "i kept my promise." picture with your streak. It is created on your phone and only goes where you send it through the iOS share sheet. Whatever app you share it to handles it under its own privacy policy.

Export. The export option creates a text copy of your journal (dates, promises, whether you kept them, and your notes) that you can copy or share. Once you send it somewhere, it's in your hands.

04 Notifications, Face ID and the focus timer

• Notifications (reminders, the 8 PM check-in, "focus complete", "promise kept") are scheduled locally on your phone. They don't pass through any server of ours.
• Face ID or passcode can lock the fresh start tracker. The check is done by iOS; Promise never receives or stores your face data or passcode, only whether the unlock succeeded.
• The focus timer keeps time on your device so it can keep running when you leave the app.

05 Anonymous usage analytics

To understand which parts of the app work well, Promise sends a small number of anonymous signals to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service based in the EU. This tells us things like "how many people reached this screen" or "which answer was most commonly picked", never who you are.

These signals may include:

• Which onboarding screen you reached, so we can see where people drop off.
• Which answers you picked on onboarding questions, such as your goals, how often you want reminders, the age and gender option you entered during setup, and whether you allowed notifications.
• Which subscription plan you tapped on the paywall screen.
• General app information such as app version, iOS version, device type, and language.

06 Subscriptions and referrals

Promise's subscriptions are purchased through Apple's App Store and managed using RevenueCat, a subscription infrastructure service that confirms a purchase went through and unlocks the features that come with it. Apple handles the payment itself; we never see your card or payment details.

Data RevenueCat may process on our behalf includes:

• Which plan you purchased and its status (trial, active, expired, cancelled), including whether a promo code was used.
• An anonymous, randomly generated identifier for your installation of the app, not your name, email, or Apple ID.
• Purchase and transaction information provided by Apple, needed to verify your subscription.

If you arrive through a creator's referral link, our affiliate partner InfluTo checks whether the install came from that link. If it did, the creator's referral code is added to your anonymous RevenueCat record and passed to InfluTo when you subscribe, so the right creator is credited. This is not linked to your personal identity and is never used for advertising.

07 What we don't do

• We don't sell your data to anyone, for any reason.
• We don't show ads or use advertising networks.
• We don't build advertising profiles or track you across other apps.
• We don't require or collect your name, email, or phone number to use the app.
• We don't share data with anyone beyond the service providers above (TelemetryDeck, RevenueCat, and InfluTo), and never with data brokers or advertisers.

08 Children's privacy

Promise is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The age picker during setup starts at 13. Age and gender entered during onboarding are stored on your device and, when included in anonymous analytics, are never linked to an individual.

09 Your rights

Because Promise has no accounts and keeps your content on your phone, you already control it: you can view it in the app, export it, or erase it with "delete my data" or by deleting the app. If you have questions about the analytics or subscription data described above, or a request under data protection law (including the GDPR, since we're based in the EU), contact us at the address below. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

10 Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the update will be posted at this same link with a new effective date above.

01 The app

Promise helps you make and keep small promises to yourself. It includes daily promises and evening check-ins, smart promises linked to your Apple Health step count and focus time, a focus timer, a gym planner, a journal, a fresh start quit tracker, speech and memory training, and a home-screen widget. The App runs on your device with no account system, and your data is stored locally, as described in the Privacy Policy above.

02 Subscriptions

Promise offers optional auto-renewing subscriptions ("Subscriptions") purchased through Apple's App Store, currently a weekly plan and a yearly plan (the yearly plan includes a 3-day free trial). By purchasing a Subscription, you agree to the following:

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase, or at the end of the free trial.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the price of your plan.
• You can manage or cancel a Subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings. Deleting the App does not cancel a Subscription.
• Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a paid Subscription, where applicable.
• Promo codes are redeemed through the App Store and are subject to Apple's terms and any conditions stated with the code.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies; we can't issue them directly.
• Prices may change; you'll be notified in advance as required by Apple, and changes apply only to future billing periods.

03 Health, fitness and wellbeing

Promise is a personal habit tool. It is not a medical device, and nothing in it is medical, fitness, nutritional, psychological, or addiction-treatment advice.

• Exercise: the gym planner and health promises are for general motivation. Talk to a doctor before starting a new exercise program, use proper form, and stop if you feel pain, dizziness, or shortness of breath. You exercise at your own risk.
• Apple Health: step counts come from Apple and your devices. We don't guarantee they are accurate or complete, and they shouldn't be used for medical decisions.
• Fresh start: quitting some substances, especially alcohol, can be dangerous without medical support. Please talk to a doctor before quitting alcohol, and use the help lines linked in the App if you need support.
• Emergencies: Promise is not an emergency service. If you're in crisis, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line right away.

04 Your content

What you create in Promise, including your promises, notes, workout plans, and profile picture, belongs to you. Because it's stored on your device, you're responsible for keeping it, for example by using the export option, and for making sure you have the right to use any photo you add. Speech training texts are provided for personal practice only.

05 Acceptable use

You agree to use the App only for its intended purpose, and not to misuse, reverse-engineer, or attempt to disrupt the App or the services it relies on.

06 Third-party services and links

The App relies on Apple services (the App Store, Apple Health, notifications, Face ID) and on RevenueCat, TelemetryDeck, and InfluTo. The App may also link to outside resources, such as help lines. We aren't responsible for third-party services or websites, which are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

07 Intellectual property

The App, including its design, mascot, illustrations, speeches, and text, belongs to us and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the App without permission.

08 No warranty

The App is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, that notifications or automatic health check-offs will always work, or that it will produce any particular outcome for you.

09 Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including injury during exercise or loss of data stored on your device. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law.

10 Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The update will be posted at this same link with a new effective date. Continuing to use the App after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
